People, Boats and Animals
Date ca. 3000 BCE
Movement Egyptian | Predynastic
Provenance Tomb 100 of Hierakonpolis, Egypt
Housed at Egyptian Museum, Cairo
The earliest known example of Egyptian tomb chamber art, in which simplistic figures intermingle in battle amongst the crude landscape. While later tomb art would make use of registers to neatly organize narratives, the story lines here are dispersed freely throughout the entire canvas.
