At the time of this work’s production, the transformation of Aten from a falcon-headed man to a disc with extending rays that terminate in hands had already well taken hold. Aside from Akhenaten’s feminine qualities, the intimacy and livelihood amongst himself and his wife and daughters represents another stark contrast to royal depictions from earlier dynasties.
