Statues of triumphant athletes were prominent across the Greek mainland and colonies. Here, a charioteer stands in a victorious pose and, like the Kritios Boy, exhibits contrapposto. Though he wears a charioteer’s tunic, his body also exhibits sensuous curves and naturalism.
