This piece was possibly produced by the head of the “house of design” himself. Influenced by themes from China, this style was quickly popularized and incorporated into ceramic wares, manuscript illustrations, carpets and silk textiles. Complex floral designs, connected by vines, interlace with one another; animal figures are often included, as they are here.
