Architectural influence is exceptionally clear here —the windows were in fact modeled after those of Sainte-Chapelle; dark, broad outlines, like the lead strips used in stained glass windows, help to accentuate the brilliant colors around them. The figures are treated much like contemporary sculptures—the faces are full of expression and the bodies are elongated and graceful. The inclusion of contemporary wear would have drawn a direct lineage to the Crusades taking place at the time. Animal style from Early Medieval influence is utilized in the frame.
