Diskobolos (Disk Thrower)
Artist Myron
Date ca. 450 BCE
Movement Greek | Classical
Medium Marble
Height life-size

This piece is a Roman copy after a bronze original by Myron. In just a single, haunched pose, Myron’s Diskobolos is able to convey a great deal of motion; the athlete’s muscles flex and even appear to spring from the ground as he prepares to send the disk skyward.
